Mennens Ensures Operational Continuity
Mennens carries out annual inspections of fall protection equipment used for working at height.
To ensure operational continuity, these inspections are carried out on-site.
Following the inspection, all equipment is labelled and/or tagged, and an inspection report confirming compliance is issued.
Under the Dutch Working Conditions Act (Arbowet), all fall protection equipment used for working at height must be inspected annually. RollDock Shipping B.V. has relied on Mennens (and previously Safe Site) for these inspections on its vessels for many years, including on the BigRoll Beaufort. Mennens ensures that all safety equipment meets strict safety requirements while allowing operations on board the BigRoll Beaufort to continue without interruption.

Working at Height
Cinzia Paura, Purchaser at RollDock Shipping B.V., explains: “Our crew mainly uses fall protection equipment on board our vessels during loading and unloading operations. For example, when attaching or detaching lifting loads, or when climbing onto high cargo to gain access. Fall protection equipment is also used when securing cargo at height for sea transport.”
Mennens Carries Out On-Site Inspections
As working at height involves significant safety risks, crew members rely on various types of safety equipment. Mennens inspects this equipment annually, including safety harnesses, work positioning lanyards and fall arrest blocks.
To ensure operational continuity, Mennens carries out all inspections on-site. This means the equipment does not need to be taken off the vessel, allowing approved equipment to be put back into service quickly.

Juiste kennis en expertise
Voor de keuring zet Mennens specialisten in die beschikken over de juiste papieren en kennis. Alle criteria worden gecontroleerd en zo nodig worden er trekproeven uitgevoerd. Na afloop van de controle wordt alles gelabeld en/of gestickerd. Mennens deelt de documenten van goedkeuring als bewijs met RollDock Shipping B.V. Het betreft soms wel honderd items. De afgekeurde producten zijn gemarkeerd en inmiddels zijn hiervoor vervangende producten geleverd.
