When you work with lifting equipment or fall protection systems, safety is essential—every single day. Ensuring safe operation involves much more than just using the equipment correctly. It also includes periodic inspections, certification, maintenance, repairs, and replacement when necessary. That is why, at Mennens, we believe in building long-term service partnerships with our customers. In this blog, I'll explain what that means.

A long-term service partnership means providing complete support for all your lifting equipment and fall protection needs. With Mennens as your partner, you can rely on a one-stop shop for the supply, inspection, certification, testing, repair, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and components. In short, everything under one roof.

In addition, we offer an extensive product range. Whether you need lifting equipment and accessories or collective and personal fall protection equipment, we provide solutions for virtually every application.

What should you look for when inspecting and certifying lifting chains, fall protection equipment, cranes, and wire rope? And what exactly are the differences between inspection, certification, and testing? Explore our expert insights and practical advice.

Inspection, Certification, Repair and Replacement

At Mennens, we are qualified to inspect, certify, and repair a wide range of equipment, including cranes, lifting equipment, fall protection systems, and hydraulic tools. If an item is condemned and cannot be repaired, we can often provide a replacement immediately.

For example, if a four-leg chain sling fails inspection, we have all the necessary components in stock at our workshops to assemble a new, fully certified sling tailored to the customer's requirements. We stock chains in various diameters and lengths, along with a wide range of hooks, master links, and other fittings. Every assembly is manufactured and certified in accordance with the latest regulations and standards. The certificate is then automatically made available online.

Understanding Your Equipment and Requirements

The longer we work with a customer, the better we understand their equipment, applications, and operational needs. This enables us to provide targeted advice and establish clear agreements in advance—for example, on when equipment should be repaired or replaced as standard. In this way, we provide complete peace of mind throughout the partnership, ensuring you always have the right equipment available without having to manage the process yourself.

Keeping Your Operations Running

Our priority is to minimise disruption to your day-to-day operations during inspections and certification. That's why we combine as many activities as possible into a single visit. If repairs are required following an inspection or certification, we carry them out immediately whenever possible. We work as efficiently and unobtrusively as we can. If you barely notice we were there, we've done our job well.

Advice and Training

An important part of our service is providing expert advice on the condition of your lifting equipment and fall protection systems. Every inspection concludes with a review meeting in which our inspector or service engineer explains the findings and inspection report. We also offer training courses in safe lifting operations and working safely at height and in confined spaces.

Service Partnership in Practice

A great example of our partnership approach is our collaboration with an airline. The overhead cranes used in one of its aircraft maintenance terminals were no longer travelling smoothly along the crane runway. One of our service engineers carried out an inspection and found that movement in the building structure had caused slight deformation of the crane runway.

While structural steelwork is outside our own area of expertise, we didn't leave the customer to solve the problem alone. Instead, we identified and coordinated with a specialist steel construction company to realign the crane runway so the cranes could operate safely and efficiently again.

That's what a true service partnership is all about. At Mennens, you can count on complete support—even when the solution extends beyond our own services.
