Winches
A winch is a mechanical or electrical lifting device that pulls or hoists loads via a drum fitted with steel wire rope, webbing, or chain. Winches are deployed for pulling forces ranging from 150 kg to over 73,000 kg, depending on the type and drive system. They are indispensable in industry, construction, shipping, and heavy installation engineering.
Mennens supplies winches for a wide range of industrial applications — from manual hand winches for the workshop to electric hoisting winches for the most demanding offshore and industrial projects. As an EKH-certified inspection company, we guarantee the safety, inspection, and certification of your winches throughout their entire service life.
Our winch range
Hand winches — 150 to 7,500 kg
Hand winches are operated manually via a crank or lever. Suitable for pulling forces from 150 to 7,500 kg. Supplied as standard with a safety brake — in accordance with EN 14492-1, a brake is mandatory for lifting applications. Available in standard steel and stainless steel, with steel wire rope, webbing, or synthetic rope as an accessory.
Electric winches — 150 to 73,000 kg WLL
Electric winches deliver the pulling power and speed that heavy industrial work demands. Our online range covers 150 to 3,000 kg WLL. For heavier applications, we supply standard electric winches complemented by application-specific options up to 73,000 kg WLL — higher capacities are available on request. Available in 230V and 400V.
Cordless drill winches
Cordless drill winches are essentially hand winches that can also be powered by a cordless drill. They are ideal in situations without a fixed power supply and for greater lifting heights. Handle the heavy lifting easily with the cordless drill, and the precision work — such as positioning or tensioning — manually.

Hydraulic and pneumatic winches
In addition to our standard range, we can supply hydraulic and pneumatic winches for specific applications — including ATEX-certified environments, offshore installations, and heavy industrial processes. These types are not included in our standard online programme.

Special and custom-built winches
Not every application fits within a standard range. Mennens supplies special and custom-built winches for industrial, maritime, and offshore projects with specific requirements regarding pulling force, design, application, or certification.
Examples of custom solutions:
- Winches with multiple rope compartments on the drum
- Special designs for shipping and offshore
- Winches with adapted drum capacity or drive system
- Hand winches suitable for ATEX environments
Inspection and certification of winches
Periodic inspection of winches is mandatory in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines (user manual). Where the manufacturer does not specify a minimum inspection interval, the winch must be inspected at least once a year. As an EKH-certified inspection company, we take care of the complete inspection, certification, and documentation of your winches — from initial commissioning to periodic re-inspection.
Our inspection services for winches include:
- Inventory and registration of your winches
- Visual and technical inspection in accordance with applicable standards
- Inspection and load testing
- Certification and inspection reporting
- Repair and replacement of rejected components
