GWO-Training

Your licence for safe and compliant work in the international wind industry.

Standing still is unthinkable in the wind industry. Safety and certification are not optional, but the standard. The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) has set this standard for working safely in the wind energy sector.

Safe Site – powered by Mennens – is a GWO-accredited training centre where your team will learn the crucial skills needed to work safely and effectively in a wind turbine environment. We combine hyper-realistic training with the legal certainty of proper certification.

  • Global employability: a GWO certificate is your passport to working internationally in the wind industry.
  • Unrivalled safety expertise: learn, using a proven methodology, how to manage risks at height, in the event of fire or injury.
  • Demonstrable compliance: meet the requirements of site owners, clients and the Health and Safety Catalogue for Wind Energy Companies.
  • Effective action in emergencies: practise rescue and evacuation procedures in a safe environment, so you are prepared when every second counts.

Frequently Asked Questions

GWO stands for Global Wind Organisation. This organisation, founded by leading wind energy companies, has developed an international standard for safety training to create an injury-free working environment.

A GWO certificate is valid for two years worldwide. However, for work in the Netherlands, the Health and Safety Catalogue for Wind Energy Companies requires an annual refresher course for the ‘Working at Height’ module. Our specialists ensure that you always meet the relevant requirements.

The Wind Industry Database (WINDA) is GWO’s global registration system. We record all GWO certificates awarded in this database. This serves as official, international proof of your competence.

The GWO standard is the industry-mandated standard. Virtually all wind farm owners and main contractors require a valid GWO certificate for access to their sites.

GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) is the basic training course for new employees. GWO BSTR (Basic Safety Training Refresher) is the shorter refresher course that you take before your current certificate expires.
