Sustainable business

Operating successfully, while taking people and the environment into account

Making the world and workplace safer, more sustainable and more diverse. That’s our commitment at Mennens. We are an organization that values integrity and inclusiveness, are socially responsible and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

To ensure sustainable business practices, we use a code of conduct based on internationally recognized standards for human rights, working conditions, anti-corruption and the environment. We also expect our suppliers to operate in accordance with this code of conduct. To this end, we have created and use our own Code of Conduct.

Sustainability (SDG #13: climate action)

We are committed to reducing our ecological footprint. To this end, we are taking practical steps, such as:

  • Electrification of vehicle fleet
All new employee cars will be electric or hybrid. The service vans will also be changed: currently, we already have electric service vans. The aim is for both service vans and employee cars to be 100% electric by 2030.

  • Sustainable product line
Our Aspire product line consists of lifting and personal protective equipment made from recycled materials, such as PET bottles.

  • Smart transportation

Transport is a major part of total CO2 emissions. That is why we map transport companies and make sustainable choices in them.

Safety and health (SDG #3: good health and wellbeing)

The health and safety of our people and our customers is paramount. Some of the measures we take to achieve this:

  • Training and education
We offer our customers training in safe hoisting and working at height and in depth. We keep our own employees up to date through the Mennens Tech Academy, our internal company training, periodic training and courses.

  • SafeWork app
Safety is our business, not just for the customer. Through the SafeWork app, we enable our own employees to easily report unsafe situations. The more unsafe situations we can resolve and ultimately prevent, the smaller the probability of an accident.

  • ISO, EKH and VCA audits
Mennens participates annually in a variety of safety and quality audits. For example, we are certified according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, GWO, EKH and VCA** and active with the Safety Culture Ladder.

  • Sustainable employability
We encourage our employees to exercise more, through the It's my life app, among other things. We also offer a Preventive Medical Examination and periodically conduct a sustainable employability scan. We do all this to prevent absenteeism and to identify any complaints at an early stage so that we can address them proactively.

Diversity and inclusion (SDG #10: Reduce inequality)

At Mennens, we value the diversity of our employees. Our parent organization, Axel Johnson International, has set concrete goals for this, including growth in employees of different nationalities, a healthy balance between the number of men and women and a good spread of teaching time. Our recruitment policy takes this into account.

Community involvement

We also care about our (local) environment. We are friends of Stichting Ambulance Wens. And employees can earn points in the It's my life app by moving. They can use these points to support Stichting Ambulance Wens.
