Test & Repair

Sometimes a visual check is not enough. For complex repairs, overhauls, and heavy testing, Mennens has specialized workshops and unique test facilities.

In-Depth Testing and Overhaul Services

Confidence in safety, maximum uptime, and full compliance with EKH standards. That is our benchmark. Whether it involves load testing heavy-duty steel wire ropes for offshore applications or overhauling hydraulic tools, we ensure your equipment remains safe, reliable, and ready for operation. Our specialists combine technical expertise, certified testing procedures, and extensive industry experience to assess, maintain, and restore critical equipment to the highest standards. The result is improved reliability, extended service life, and reduced risk of unexpected downtime.

The Importance of Equipment That Meets Current Standards

Why Professional Testing and Repair?

As a Mechanical Engineer or Safety Coordinator, you know that downtime is costly and accidents are unacceptable. At Mennens, Testing & Repair is more than a box-ticking exercise; it is a technical process involving proof load testing and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to verify the integrity and safety of your equipment.

  • Cost-effective: Overhaul and repair are often more economical than purchasing new equipment, especially when dealing with heavy-duty assets.
  • Confidence in Performance: By testing equipment beyond its Working Load Limit (WLL), we can verify its structural strength and operational reliability.
  • Sustainability: Extend the service life of your assets and support circularity objectives by repairing and refurbishing equipment instead of replacing it prematurely.

Our Testing and Inspection Capabilities

Mennens operates some of the most advanced testing facilities in the Benelux. We do more than verify functionality—we subject equipment and materials to demanding test conditions to identify hidden defects before they become a safety risk.

What do we repair and overhaul?

Our EKH-certified technicians are qualified to work on a wide range of equipment used in industry, offshore, construction, and logistics:

Lifting equipment chain slings, shackles, clamps (both below and above the hook)
Steel wire rope for cranes, elevators, and heavy offshore applications
Hydraulics high-pressure tools such as jacks and pumps
Falling protection

inspection and repair of harnesses, fall arrest blocks, and rescue kits

How the Process Works: From Intake to Certification

We follow a streamlined process to get your equipment back into operation as quickly as possible.

  1. Intake & Transport: You can deliver your equipment to one of our five locations, or we can arrange transportation through our own logistics service.
  2. Diagnosis & Quotation: We carry out a visual inspection and take the necessary measurements. If defects are found, you will receive a clear quotation outlining the options: repair or replacement.
  3. Repair & Overhaul: Once approved, our technicians restore the equipment. Worn components are replaced and structural elements repaired where necessary.
  4. Proof Load Testing: Following repair, the equipment is often proof load tested on our tensile testing machine to verify its strength and integrity.
  5. Certification: The equipment receives a new inspection label, and the certificate is uploaded directly to Mennens Certif.

Frequently Asked Questions

According to EKH guidelines, load testing is often carried out after major repairs, when commissioning new lifting installations, or at fixed intervals (for example, every 4 years for cranes).

Not always. For smaller items (such as standard lifting slings), replacement is often more cost-effective. However, for heavy chain assemblies, hoists, or specialized equipment, overhaul is often a fraction of the cost of new. We provide honest advice on this during the quotation phase.

Thanks to our five locations and large stock of parts, we aim for minimal turnaround times. For standard inspections, your equipment is often returned within a few working days. Urgent request? Let us know during intake.

Yes. Each approved item receives an inspection sticker and an official certificate (including a test graph for tensile tests). This is available 24/7 through our online portal.
