Sanne Lijesen on working at Mennens
In addition to understanding customer needs, knowledge of Mennens' services and solutions is also important. Sanne learned a lot about this during her induction period. She explains: "I first spent a few months observing other departments to get to know all the specialists and products. As a new colleague, you also visit all Mennens locations. Mennens thinks along with you from the start and gives you a lot of freedom during the induction process. For example, I spent three days at a steel cable manufacturer in Germany. And if you want, you can specialise in any area."
Lots of potential
During the application process, Mennens looks at the complete picture, not just education and experience. Sanne: ‘I studied something completely different, namely real estate. But I always enjoyed the commercial side of my studies and I also learned this from home. My father is also an account manager. During my application, we quickly clicked on both sides and Mennens saw potential in me.’
People work
Sanne is now completely at home in her job and visits customers every day. ‘I spend a lot of time on the road in my car. I have a lot of contact with existing and new customers. That's what makes my job so enjoyable. I also visit the office about once a week to give feedback. That's nice, because I know everyone and we have lunch and go for a walk together during the break.’
Fulfilling needs
Sanne talks enthusiastically about her work: "It's not just about selling, but about fulfilling both the customer's needs and those of Mennens. The customer needs something and we have the solution. I am the intermediary and build a long-term relationship with the customers. They can call me 10 times a day and ask me anything. I see my relationship with the customer as a partnership. We take care of everything so that the customer can focus on their work. And if something goes wrong, I make sure it is quickly resolved, both internally and externally."
Goodwill factor
Sanne notices that she has a lot of goodwill as a woman from Limburg. ‘When customers notice that I'm from Limburg, they immediately start speaking dialect. That creates trust. I ask follow-up questions and personal questions. It's all about personal contact, good advice and trust. That's what sets us apart.’
