From the Archives: The Eastern Scheldt Storm Surge Barrier
In the early 1980s, construction began on the Eastern Scheldt Storm Surge Barrier. It would become an enormous engineering project, costing several billion Dutch guilders. As a wire rope manufacturer and supplier, Den Haan Wire Rope Factory (now Mennens Dongen) made a significant contribution to the marine construction activities involved in this ambitious project.
Mennens Supplies Eight Overhead Cranes for Elma Technology’s New Facility
Lifting and moving complex workpieces: this was the challenge we faced when Elma Technology asked us to supply a series of overhead cranes for its new facility in the autumn. Mennens had the honour of supplying and installing no fewer than eight single-girder overhead cranes!
This exciting contract was finalised following discussions via Skype, an approach that perfectly suited the circumstances at the time.
