Hupack and Mennens: safer lifting, less downtime

At Hupack, everything revolves around an efficient production process. The Rotterdam-based wholesaler has specialised in food-safe packaging and disposables for the hospitality industry, takeaways and delivery services since 1995. Components, tools and materials are regularly moved around the production area. For a long time, this was done using a forklift truck, but that method often required two staff members, necessitated extra coordination and resulted in downtime.

“We used to rely heavily on the forklift truck. That was less safe, required two people and caused additional downtime. With the cranes, we can now work faster and much more safely.”

Hupack was therefore looking for a lifting solution that was safer, more user-friendly and compliant with regulations. After comparing several suppliers, the company chose Mennens.

From forklift trucks to bespoke lifting solutions

Mennens did not recommend a standard solution, but rather a combination of several column-mounted jib cranes and an electrically mobile gantry crane. Mennens also overhauled the existing double-girder overhead crane with a capacity of 4 tonnes, ensuring it could once again be relied upon. The collaboration began around 2016 with the delivery of the first systems.
