Renovation of the Kreekraksluizen locks: A proud project by Mennens

In recent months, a lot of hard work has gone into an important project: the renovation of the Kreekraksluizen locks in Rilland. This project includes replacing the haul cables, bypass cables, and bypass buffers. The Kreekraksluizen locks form a crucial connection between the Zoommeer lake and the southern branch of the Scheldt-Rhine Canal. South of the locks, the canal cuts through Zuid-Beveland, emphasizing the strategic value of this waterway.

The Kreekraksluizen locks: A technical marvel

The Kreekraksluizen complex consists of two equally sized locks, each with an impressive total length of 320 meters and a width of 24 meters. These locks are essential for shipping and play an important role in the region's water management. The maintenance and renewal of this infrastructure are therefore of great importance to ensure the safety and efficiency of shipping.

Collaboration and expertise

This long-term project was carried out by Mennens in close collaboration with the rope access specialists at Safe Site - Powered by Mennens. This collaboration combines the extensive experience and expertise of both teams, resulting in efficient and safe execution of the work. The use of rope access techniques makes it possible to work in hard-to-reach places, which is essential for a project of this size and complexity.

Proud of our achievement

As an organization, we are proud of projects like this. They demonstrate not only our technical skills and expertise, but also our commitment to maintaining and improving vital infrastructure. The renovation of the Kreekraksluizen locks is a perfect example of how we tackle and successfully complete major challenges through solutions and collaboration.
With the completion of this project, the Kreekraksluizen locks will function reliably for many years to come, contributing to the safety and efficiency of shipping in the region.
