Professional Solar Panel Installation Starts with Professional Safety Awareness

Prevent accidents and reputational damage with Working at Height training

As a solar industry professional, are you fully aware of the risks associated with working at height? Unfortunately, these risks are often underestimated, and safety measures are frequently insufficient. By ensuring your employees receive professional training, you can significantly reduce fall hazards, prevent serious accidents, and demonstrably meet your duty of care obligations.

The importance of fall protection in the solar industry is reflected in the statistics. In 2023, the Dutch Labour Inspectorate reported 40 workplace accidents within an eighteen-month period. Between 2020 and 2023, six fatal accidents occurred. Inspections also revealed that more than 70% of installers were in violation of occupational health and safety regulations. As a result, the Netherlands Labour Authority (NLA) actively monitors safe working at height practices during solar panel installations, including the correct use of fall protection systems.

One Accident Can Disrupt Everything

Every accident is one too many. And a single incident can have far-reaching consequences. In addition to the personal impact on those involved, your company may face negative publicity, reputational damage, fines, investigations by the Labour Inspectorate, and potential liability claims. The result can be significant disruption to your operations and business continuity.

Solar Industry Training: Demonstrate Your Duty of Care

Naturally, you want to avoid these risks. That starts with understanding the hazards and maintaining a continuous focus on safety. By providing professional training for your organisation and employees, you can clearly demonstrate compliance with your duty of care obligations.

More importantly, you take a significant step toward creating a safer working environment for your workforce. Training records can also support your Risk Inventory and Evaluation (RI&E), helping to strengthen your overall safety management system.

What do you learn during this training?

In our Solar Industry Working at Height Training, your installers learn how to work safely at height while installing and/or inspecting solar panels. Training takes place in a realistic environment at our Safe Site Expertise Centre in Vlaardingen, where real-life work situations are carefully simulated.

Using our fully equipped training roofs—both a pitched roof and a flat roof—participants gain hands-on experience with the risks involved in installing actual solar panels. At the same time, they become familiar with the correct use of mandatory fall protection equipment and safe working procedures.

This practical approach ensures that participants not only understand the theory behind working safely at height but also develop the confidence and skills required to apply it effectively on site.
